General
What does CyberRooted do?
We help organizations understand and reduce their cybersecurity risk. That includes security assessments, penetration testing, vulnerability management, Microsoft 365 and cloud security, endpoint and network security, identity and access management, and incident readiness.
Who do you work with?
We work with businesses of many sizes and industries, including small and medium businesses, healthcare, financial and professional services, architecture, engineering and construction, retail and e-commerce, and technology companies. See Industries We Serve for details.
Do I need to be technical to work with you?
No. We explain findings and recommendations in plain language for business leaders, and provide the technical detail your IT team or provider needs.
Services & testing
What is a cybersecurity assessment?
An assessment reviews your systems, configurations and security practices to identify weaknesses and risks, then prioritizes what to fix. It gives you a clear picture of where you stand and a practical plan to improve.
What’s the difference between a vulnerability assessment and a penetration test?
A vulnerability assessment broadly identifies known weaknesses across your environment. A penetration test goes deeper, safely attempting to exploit weaknesses within an agreed scope to show real-world impact. Read more in our article on the difference between the two.
Can you help secure Microsoft 365?
Yes. We review identity and sign-in settings, email protection, sharing, administrator access, auditing and other configuration areas, and recommend practical improvements.
Can you help if we’ve had a security incident?
We help organizations prepare for and recover from incidents, including response planning and strengthening defenses afterward. If you’re dealing with an active incident, email us, say so in your message and include the best way to reach you.
Process & engagements
How does an engagement start?
With a consultation. We learn about your environment, goals and concerns, then recommend an appropriate scope of work. See How We Work for the full process.
Is testing authorized and scoped?
Always. Testing only happens with your written authorization and within an agreed scope that defines which systems are included, when testing occurs and which methods are used.
Will testing disrupt our business?
We plan testing to minimize disruption, agree on timing in advance and communicate throughout the engagement.
What will we receive at the end?
Clear findings with severity ratings, actionable remediation guidance, an executive summary for leadership and technical recommendations for your IT team. Follow-up support is available when it’s included in the engagement.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the size of your environment and the scope of work. After an initial consultation, we provide a proposal based on what you actually need.
Security & confidentiality
How do you handle our information?
We treat everything we learn about your organization as confidential, access only what an engagement requires and agree on how data will be handled, stored and returned or deleted.
How often should we have a security assessment?
Many organizations assess at least once a year and after significant changes, such as a cloud migration or new application. The right cadence depends on your risk and requirements; read how often to assess for guidance.
